The goal of Life Histories of Hamtramck is to record and preserve the personal stories of Hamtramck residents that make up the greater narrative of the city. Throughout the summer of 2016, we recorded life history interviews with 18 Hamtramckans over the age of 50, including immigrants from Bangladesh, Bosnia, Yemen, Macedonia, and Poland as well as lifelong residents whose families have lived in the area for generations. The recordings are divided into thematic groups, which can be found in the Story Archive drop down menu.

On October 9 from 5 to 7pm at Bank Suey (10345 Joseph Campau Ave), we shared
select stories from those recordings and celebrated the completion of our digital story archive. The event was free, catered & open to the public.
